Being the second largest city in Indiana, it is amazing to see the growth happening here in downtown Fort Wayne. Jobs, restaurants, entertainment, and culture is growing in our community! To make it more special businesses are growing, housing units are popping up, and parking garages are being built for more residents to enjoy downtown and the city we live in!
The city of Fort Wayne is working hard to make this city the best it can be for tourists, family visiting, and the residents that live here! We are proud to see the hard work being put in and can’t wait to see what the future holds! We have a list of some of the wonderful projects going on;
New $50 million development downtown, “The Pearl”
This was announced yesterday by NBC Fort Wayne February 14th, 2022. There is no plan on when this project will start to take shape on the downtown area but we can’t wait for it to get started.
With a partnership between Surack Enterprise and the City of Fort Wayne they are trying to build a 7 story mixed-use building. Commercial and event units will fill the ground floor, multiple living units on the upper floors, and a 92 car parking area for resident. This is what will be located in this wonderful building once the project is completed. The ground size is going to be on a 35,000 SQFT lot.
The location is going to be west of the Bradley hotel and south of perfection bakeries. With this location Pearl, Webster, Main Streets and Maiden Lane will all be bound together.
The Suracks will also be investing up to $7 million to help improve the surrounding areas such as streets and infrastructure.
$11.9 million project at The
During this project they will be undergoing a historic preservation of three historical buildings off W Columbia Street and building on two empty lots in the area. They will also be renovating the upper floors of the buildings located on both sides of The Landing, above Columbia Street Bar and Grill and Nawa. The project was stated by mayor Tom Henry, announced January 20th, 2022. When the project is completed it will include 21,326 square feet of commercial and retail spaces as well as 21 new housing units. These units will include affordable house spaces thanks to $750,000 funded by the HOME investment partnership program. Throughout the building process it is expected to fill 106 construction jobs and 80 full time jobs. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2022.
We are so excited to see the area once these major projects are completed. We’re looking forward to updating you all on the progress throughout their completion.
