St. Patrick’s Day isn’t just about wearing green; it’s a great opportunity to spend some quality time together as a family and create a little extra fun at home. Whether you’re looking for simple crafts, playful games, or creative activities to keep kids entertained, there are plenty of ways to celebrate the holiday without leaving the house.

Here are some fun and easy St. Patrick’s Day activities the whole family can enjoy.
👣 Go on a Leprechaun Scavenger Hunt
Kids love a good treasure hunt, and a leprechaun-themed scavenger hunt is the perfect St. Patrick’s Day adventure.
Create clues that lead kids around the house or yard searching for hidden “gold” (chocolate coins, gold-wrapped candy, or small prizes). You can also leave behind “leprechaun footprints” made from green paper or washable paint to make it feel like a mischievous leprechaun has visited overnight.
End the hunt with a pot of gold at the final destination!
🌈 Create Rainbow Crafts
Rainbows are a classic symbol of St. Patrick’s Day and make a great craft activity for kids of all ages.
Some easy ideas include:
Paper plate rainbows with cotton ball clouds
Rainbow chains made from colored construction paper
Finger-painted rainbows
Rainbow bracelets using colorful beads
Not only are these crafts fun, but they also make adorable decorations around the house.
☘️ Make Shamrock Art
Shamrocks are another iconic St. Patrick’s Day symbol and perfect for creative craft time.
Kids can:
Paint shamrocks using cut sponges
Create shamrock stamps with potatoes
Cut out paper shamrocks to decorate windows
Make shamrock garlands to hang around the house
It’s a simple activity that lets kids get creative with colors and patterns.
🪤 Build a Leprechaun Trap
One of the most popular St. Patrick’s Day traditions is building a leprechaun trap. Kids can use boxes, craft supplies, and household items to design their own clever traps to try and catch a sneaky leprechaun.
Encourage creativity with materials like:
Popsicle sticks
Pipe cleaners
Glitter
Green construction paper
Small ladders made from craft sticks
Even if the trap doesn’t catch a leprechaun, kids might wake up to find a few gold coins left behind!
🏅 Play St. Patrick’s Day Games
Simple games can add extra excitement to the holiday.
Some fun options include:
Shamrock Toss
Cut out shamrocks from paper and toss them into buckets or baskets for points.
Gold Coin Relay
Use spoons to carry chocolate coins across the room in a relay race.
Pin the Hat on the Leprechaun
A St. Patrick’s Day twist on the classic party game.
These games are easy to set up and can get the whole family involved.
👩🍳 Bake St. Patrick’s Day Treats
Cooking together can be a fun activity for kids and adults alike.
Try making:
Shamrock sugar cookies
Rainbow cupcakes
Green pancakes
Lucky cereal snack mix
Mint chocolate desserts
Let kids help decorate treats with green frosting, sprinkles, and edible gold decorations.
🪄 Watch for Leprechaun Mischief
For younger kids, parents can create a little “leprechaun mischief” around the house the night before St. Patrick’s Day.
Ideas include:
Turning the milk green with food coloring
Leaving tiny green footprints on the counter
Scattering gold coins around the kitchen
Flipping chairs upside down or moving small objects
Kids will love waking up to signs that a playful leprechaun stopped by.
